How To Build Presence on Twitter Like a Pirate
If you’re not using ManageFiltter Pro as a tool to help you build presence and follow the right people on Twitter, you should be. And by the way, I’m not affiliated with the company at all and they don’t pay me a dime to write about them … at least not yet, anyway. Why am I recommending it then? Because ManageFlitter is a Pirate’s best friend. Yarrggghh! Aside: I use the word pirate in the cool and lovable sense – not the whole rape and pillage your village deal that’s often associated with Pirates. Just so you know… 5 Easy Steps to Building Presence on Twitter Like a Pirate Begin by making a list of the people you would like to emulate on Twitter. This can be people you look up to or even a list of your top competitors. Make sure to include their Twitter names on the list. Log on to you ManageFlitter Pro account and click over to the follow tab at the top. Next, make sure you have opened the People Adder tab on the left sidebar. See below. Insert one of the names on your list into the “any topic” box you see above. If you want to really zero in on a specific location, fill in that box too. As an example, let’s say you were traveling to Chicago in in the next few weeks — that would be an appropriate location to fill in if you wanted to want to make new friends before your trip.. Click “Find People” and give ManageFlitter Pro a chance to hoist it sales. Yarrggghh! It will look like this… Each individual whois pulled up will have tweeted the name “lewishowes” in the past few days. Usually that indicates some type of affinity such as a conversation or re-tweet.. For bonus points, [...]

Is it just me or is anyone else bothered by how the web is a buzz with celebration over Osama Bin Laden’s death? Yes, he was an evil man and thousands upon thousands of lives were lost due to his influence of political and military power. But are we not glorifying him further though our own self-serving buzz generation? How sad. There’s been hundreds if not thousands of blog posts on the event of his passing. Some are pointed and harsh, while others deny the news all together. Some look at the media and how the new internet driven landscape is impacting how word spreads across the web. All of them, including this post, are playing on the newly created buzz and keywords in hopes that we will be found and read and admired. We optimize for keywords, hoping to be one of the first on the blogging bandwagon so that we get more fake re-tweets, more likes and comments on Facebook and maybe even some feedback from our audience on how smart we are. We do the same thing during earthquakes and tsunamis and civil uprisings. We also slow our cars down on highways when we might catch a glimpse of the carnage from an automobile accident. How sad. We immortalize terror by creating fake twitter accounts to joke about virgin wives, the Bush family and the last moments of this horrible villain’s life. And what’s the result of our fun? As of this post, 36 tweets, 39,264 Twitter followers, and listed 195 times. It’s too early for Klout’s system to process the data, but I’m willing to bet the account will score above 50 in less than a single week. Here’s some other numbers to think about. According to this post New York Mag, the death toll of the 911 attacks was 2819. And, that doesn’t include all the other lives lost [...]
