Skype Session: Sam Falletta on Building Social Media Into Your Company Culture

I talk about Incept (client) quite a bit here, and there are a few reasons for that. We’ve been working together for nearly a year now and have had time to implement the strategies we’ve developed. The human business team is up and running and doing quite well. These guys can execute just about anything I throw at them.  That’s really important if you want to get something back from your efforts in strategy implementation. It’s time you meet Incept’s leader, Sam Falletta.  I like this chat we had because Sam is very realistic in terms of explaining some of the finer points regarding what social media has done at Incept at the company culture level.  These guys are doing it.  Right now.  Today.  Incept is a good example to look at when you are building social media in your own company. Here’s Sam… How are you building social media tools into your company culture? nateriggsLike what you just read and want to get my posts delivered to your inbox? SUBSCRIBE HEREMore Posts Follow Me:

CorkShare is Chasing Google Wave – Skype Session with Tim Gasper

Are you are actively using Google Wave to collaborate with your friends? At Social Business Strategies, Marie and I have been dabbling to make it work.  From the experience, we’ve come up with some of our own ideas on how to use Google Wave to your advantage. It’s not hard to understand why using the web to facilitate small group collaboration is a good idea.  Wave seems to have captured the most buzz around online collaboration tools recently, thanks largely to Google’s wide spread domination of just about every aspect of the web. While there are a ton of great features and benefits to Wave, most users will agree that the concept is far from being perfected. The question is, who’s gutsy enough to step up and challenge the Goliath of the Interwebz? Being gutsy is one of the reasons Tim Gasper, of Corkshare, impresses me.  Backed by Goldstein Caldwell & Associates, a firm dedicated to helping Northeast Ohio entrepreneurs get their start-up concepts off the ground, he and his partner, Jim England, are stepping up to the plate to challenge Google Wave with their own take on how social collaboration tools should work. What is CorkShare? Corkshare was an idea birthed during a car ride from Cleveland, Ohio to Columbus’s inaugural Startup Weekend in 2008.  Since then, these two entrepreneurs have been working to build their system and onboard users to what has the potential to be a more user-friendly interface, making sharing content and ideas online much easier. In their own words: “CorkShare is a way to visually share web content like notes, photos, videos, and more with small groups of friends or colleagues. Modeled after physical bulletin boards, users of CorkShare create virtual CorkBoards, post embeddable content from around the Internet, and discuss these objects in a fun and [...]

Flowtown Makes Connecting on Social Media as Easy as Email

Flowtown is one of my favorite new social media tools. It’s really a treat when you can connect with someone who let’s it all out and gives you the true inside scoop on the trials and tribulations of being a start-up technology entrepreneur.  In one of the most entertaining Skype Sessions I’ve done to date, I’m pleased to be joined today by technology entrepreneur, Ethan Bloch. Why I Heart Flowtown The time of email and social media convergence is upon us.  We’ve seen indications of this this in recent weeks with ExactTarget’s acquisition of CoTweet.  The truth is, this trend is only in the infant stages, and my prediction is that we will see more mergers like this.  I wouldn’t be at all surprised if in the next few months, we see ConstantContact follow suit and acquire some form of social media aggregation tool. (And, if it were me, I’d offer to buy Hootsuite…) Flowtown is yet another example of social media communication melding with email marketing.  This slick, little piece of web-based software has the potential to make a huge impact on how businesses are using social media and, more specifically, how they will engage with the movement towards Social CRM in the next five years. I’ve written about how a social media tool, like Flowtown, is applicable in trade show marketing.  Some of the best ideas follow the “KISS” theory.  If you’re not familiar, KISS lovingly stands for “Keep It Simple, Stupid”.  That’s exactly what Flowtown does.  The application makes it easier than ever to track down the social media profiles of the people you want to connect with, using human email addresses.  Once the addresses are uploaded, either manually or via comma-separated value spreadsheets, Flowtown quickly crawls the web and pulls back social media profile data, giving [...]
