Human Emotion & Value Innovation
Value innovation creates human emotion. For instance, I’m typing this post and will publish it from about 35,000 feet above where you are right now. What can I say? Delta has in-flight WiFi. That’s value innovation that creates human emotion. How so? Instead of writing a blog post this evening from home, I’m doing it during a time when I have little else to keep my attention. That means that instead of waiting to write until I get home this evening, I’ll have more time to play with my kids, catch up with Sarah and walk my dogs. That makes me happy. Happiness is a human emotion I really value. Why is this important? As a human consumer, I’m willing to pay $4.95 for a little more happiness, every time. Get it? How is your value innovation making people happy? nateriggsI advise mid-sized & large organizations on how to adopt and use social media to market through organizational culture and better serve their clients. I’m also a blended family dad who enjoys music, photography and distance racing. When I’m not writing here, you can find me writing over at the Content Marketing Institute. This week Cheryl, Tim and I are leading a Human Business Team of 20 cool kids at the American Marketing Association 2010 Market Research Conference in Atlanta. You can go back to that last link if you want to follow the aggregate of all the social media content our team is producing. Mike Brown is here too, running the festivities for the event. It’s early in the event but I thought this was a particularly interesting video clip to share. Jamie Turner is an Author and Chief Content Officer with his firm, The 60 Second Marketer. His presentation, entitled Why Your Brain Buys Stuff it Doesn’t Need, is fascinating and describes how we humans make purchase decisions based on emotions. Here’s a snippet: [Jamie Turner on Why Your Brain Buys Stuff it Doesn’t Need #AMAMRC from Nate Riggs on Vimeo. You can also follow #amamrc on Twitter for the session’s play-by-play updates. Still want more? Here’s a short interview with Jamie following his session: [Interview with Jamie Turner at #AMAMRC 2010 from Nate Riggs on Vimeo.] What’s your take? nateriggsI advise mid-sized & large organizations on how to adopt and use social media to market through organizational culture and better serve their clients.
