Ready?
And the tactic is… ask. Profound, isn’t it?
Here’s what I mean:
For reference, here’s a link to DJ’s Online Marketer Blog (apparently, he’s no longer a fan of Brian Solis). DJ used to write more frequently and the blog, at one point, had a cleaner design. Hmmm. What’s up, DJ?
All joking aside, I really do want you to subscribe and not because I’m mining for your email address. If I ever decide to go that route (maybe for the sake of a newsletter or something), I’ll tell you up front, okay?
I want your email address mainly because that’s how I get the blogs delivered that I read every day.
It’s only a few. Chris is one of them. I get two of Darren’s blogs via email (with Problogger and DPS). I really like Darren’s stuff. Another blog I receive via email is Incept’s (client). Having their posts in my inbox allows me to keep tabs on how the collaborative team is coming along.
Using email for only a few blogs allows me to let a post sit in my inbox until I have time to spend reading it in detail. If you read my blog every day, would an email subscription save you some time? And if you don’t read my blog every day, I sure would love you to.
At any rate, please take a stab at asking your own readers to subscribe via email or even RSS. Twitter is a great tool, but who knows how things will change in the near future. I’m willing to bet that email isn’t going anywhere for quite some time, so I’d like to put my readers in that basket.
What say you? Will you trust me with your email address and subscribe to NateRiggs.com?
