cmiWhen blogging, it’s important to occasionally write outside of your own domain.

There’s a mutual advantage.  Writing elsewhere gives you the chance to reach an audience different from your own (possibly gaining some fresh readers of your content).  In terms of SEO, writing elsewhere increases the “link juice” behind your site.  There’s also a bolstering of street credibility that comes with having the chance to write on other blogs.

These two aspects work both ways.  The blog where you guest post also gains new readers, link juice and personal content from your contribution.

It really is a beautiful type of win-win situation here in the blogoshpere.  Have you started your own blog yet?

Over at Junta42

I had the chance to meet Joe Pulizzi while out in Chicago at BMA Engage.  That’s funny, considering he works about two hours up the road, in Cleveland, where Junta42 operates.

Today, I’m pleased to have the chance to write for Junta42′s Content Marketing Institute, a resource for “how to” content marketing training.

Cheers!
