I’m not sure if people realize the full implications of just what is happening today with this whole movement toward social media communication.
I passionately believe that here and now, we are making all making history. Everything about how we communicate is changing at a more rapid pace pace than ever before in history. The communication theory from 30 years ago still applies, in fact, I would say that it is more applicable now that ever.
What is changing is the tools. They are getting better, stronger and faster and with it, real power is returning to the people.
Clay Shirky knows this. You may have already seen his talk on TED. I’m betting that because it’s amazing content, it’s been posted on dozens if not hundreds of blogs. That in itself is a testament to exactly what Clay is talking so passionately about.
My brother Nick is preparing to head to grad school in Tampa, FL at the end of this month so he can dive into graduate communication research studies. He sent this to me via email with this one instruction – watch the whole thing. I took his advice. So should you.
